Harry Potter Fans Go Wild Over ‘Cursed Child’ Concept Trailer, Demand Full Movie With Original Cast
A brand new concept trailer for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has fans losing it online, begging for a real movie adaptation.
The trailer, dropped by the popular fan channel Teaser Pro, seems to use the power of AI-generated visuals to show what the iconic stage play could look like as a full Hollywood blockbuster.
Often called the “eighth Harry Potter story,” the play was originally written by Jack Thorne, based on a story by J.K. Rowling, Thorne, and John Tiffany. Now, with this trailer going viral, fans are buzzing about whether Warner Bros. or HBO Max might finally give us a Cursed Child movie or series.
A concept trailer for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is sparking nostalgia among fans
The story takes place nineteen years after the Battle of Hogwarts, following Albus Severus Potter — Harry’s son, named after Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape. By now, Harry has traded in his Gryffindor robes and is working as the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic.
Albus heads off to Hogwarts too, but unlike his dad, he’s sorted into Slytherin House. The pressure of living in Harry Potter’s shadow leaves him struggling, and honestly, kinda resentful.
The fan trailer — which has already racked up over 19 million YouTube views — gives us a peek at grown-up versions of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco Malfoy. And of course, one of the most emotional moments comes when Harry tells his son:
“Albus Severus Potter, you were named after two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin, and he was the bravest man I’ve ever known.”
He goes on to say that Slytherin has gained “a wonderful young wizard,” making fans even more desperate for a Cursed Child movie or HBO series adaptation.

In the trailer, things get intense when Harry learns that Albus is missing. Someone asks, “Harry, is Albus in danger?” and he delivers the chilling line: “I think we all are.”
We then see Harry at the legendary Platform 9¾, saying goodbye to Albus before school begins. But the reunion turns dark when Harry imagines Voldemort glaring menacingly at them both.
The fan edit also sneaks in classic Wizarding World moments — snakes slithering, dementors flying, and even a haunting tease of Harry facing Voldemort again. This time, though, whispers suggest Voldemort might have a child of his own.
The reaction online has been explosive. Fans are begging Teaser PRO to pitch the idea to Warner Bros. or HBO Max, hoping this dream trailer turns into a real Harry Potter spinoff movie.
One fan gushed: “This is by far one of the BEST fan-made trailers I’ve ever seen. I’m ready for another Harry Potter movie.”
Another said: “I’m a huge Harry Potter fan, and this trailer is spectacular. Warner Bros needs to see this. The music alone gave me chills.”
And one more fan couldn’t believe it was fan-made: “How is this possibly fan-made?!?! Whoever did this should actually direct the movie. The trailer was perfect!”
A concept trailer by TeaserPro reimagines the story with the original Harry Potter cast
The actual stage play first premiered at London’s Palace Theatre in June 2016, quickly earning rave reviews and winning Best New Play at the Laurence Olivier Awards. A couple of years later, it made its way to Broadway at the Lyric Theatre, snagging the Tony Award for Best Play.
Since then, the magic of Cursed Child has traveled worldwide — with productions in Australia, Germany, Japan, and Canada.
In a bit of exciting news, Tom Felton is set to reprise his role as Draco Malfoy in the Broadway version starting November 2025, which has longtime fans hyped.
But as much as fans are praying for a big-screen adaptation, a true reunion of the original Harry Potter cast still feels out of reach.
Director Chris Columbus, who gave us Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets, recently told The Times that tensions remain high. He explained that the cast’s disagreements with J.K. Rowling’s controversial anti-trans views make the idea of another film together basically “impossible.”
“This trailer is nothing short of spectacular! It truly deserves Warner Bros attention,” one fan said
But when it comes to an actual Harry Potter movie reunion, director Chris Columbus isn’t hopeful. Asked about the possibility of returning to direct another film, he said bluntly: “It’s never going to happen. It’s gotten so complicated with all the political stuff. Everyone in the cast has their own opinion, which is different from Rowling’s opinion, which makes it impossible.”
Columbus explained that while he stays in “very close contact” with Daniel Radcliffe and still has a strong bond with the original cast, he hasn’t spoken to J.K. Rowling in nearly a decade.
In a chat with Variety, he added that he feels his time in the Wizarding World is complete: “There’s nothing left for me to do in the world of Potter.”
In Cursed Child, Harry has a son, Albus Severus Potter, who gets sorted into Slytherin
In Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, fans learn that Harry’s son, Albus Severus Potter, doesn’t end up in Gryffindor like his dad — instead, he’s sorted into Slytherin House, which sets the stage for major family drama.
But even if a big-screen adaptation of Cursed Child feels unlikely, the Wizarding World isn’t slowing down. HBO and Warner Bros. are officially bringing Harry Potter to TV with a brand-new series, and J.K. Rowling herself is on board as an executive producer.
The highly anticipated Harry Potter TV show is set to premiere in early 2027, with the first season featuring eight episodes.
The fresh-faced cast has already been announced:
- Dominic McLaughlin (11) will take on the role of Harry Potter.
- Alastair Stout will step in as Ron Weasley.
- Arabella Stanton rounds out the Golden Trio as Hermione Granger.
This new take on the beloved story promises to reintroduce fans to Hogwarts in a whole new way, mixing nostalgia with a fresh start.

The upcoming Harry Potter HBO series is also stacking up an incredible cast for the iconic Hogwarts professors.
Veteran actor John Lithgow has been tapped to play Albus Dumbledore, the wise and beloved Hogwarts headmaster. Meanwhile, Janet McTeer will step into the role of Professor Minerva McGonagall, the Transfiguration expert and fierce Head of Gryffindor House.
Adding even more excitement, Paapa Essiedu will portray Severus Snape, the dark and complicated Potions Master who also serves as Head of Slytherin House. And for some fan-favorite magic, Nick Frost will take on the role of Rubeus Hagrid, the lovable half-giant and keeper of the Hogwarts grounds.
With this star-studded lineup, the Harry Potter reboot on HBO Max is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about fantasy shows of the decade.
